Description
**In recent years, we have been witnessing an unprecedented awareness of our consumption patterns with the emergence of a desire to consume better.**

Faced with this observation, many manufacturers find themselves confronted with major environmental, economic or legal challenges that threaten the current economic organisation of their sector.
It is therefore essential for manufacturers to integrate the circular economy into their strategies.
To support them, the ETHIKIS Cooperative has developed the LONGTIME® label.

The LONGTIME® label covers domestic, electronic, portable electronic devices, furniture, leisure equipment, and professional equipment.
LONGTIME® is the first European label that identifies and promotes products designed to last through a method of evaluating product durability based on EN 45552 and EN 45554 standards.

This label, owned by the ETHIKIS Cooperative, is the result of a 2-year development effort in collaboration with stakeholders such as manufacturers, repairers, users and consumers.

Compliant with ISO 14020:2000 and ISO 14021:2016 environmental communication standards, it can be issued by Apave Certification and is structured around 3 pillars:

1. The reliability and robustness of the design
2. Repairability
3. Technical support

**Features**

The LONGTIME® label fights against premature obsolescence and promotes the development of the circular economy. It is an indicator that allows the end consumer to choose a robust and repairable product.

The labeling decision is made at the end of an audit which determines the conformity of the product(s) with the LONGTIME® reference criteria.
This audit, generally carried out at the design office site, takes a "product" (design choices, assembly/disassembly, etc.) and management system (quality, procedures, etc.) approach.

It offers manufacturers the possibility to:

- Meet the expectations and requirements of consumers, the distribution sector and institutional buyers
- Anticipate a future regulatory framework (durability index)
- Fight against waste (repairability index)
- Better design their products to make them more durable

**Steps and process**

1. Formulation of the labeling request
2. Issuance of the label evaluation quote
3. Prior review and admissibility study
4. Initial on-site audit (design office)
5. Issuance of the label and communication
6. Periodic monitoring
Periodicity
If all the criteria in the reference system are met, the LONGTIME® label is issued for a period of 3 years.
At the end of this period, a renewal audit must be carried out.
