Description
The ISO 9001 standard is an international standard that aims to implement a quality management system within companies and organisations of all sizes, and in all sectors of activity.
It is part of the ISO 9000 standard framework (ISO 9000, ISO 9001 and ISO 9004), whose objective is to improve customer satisfaction.
The ISO 9001 standard defines precise requirements for a quality management system (QMS) allowing an organisation to rely on the following principles:
- management involvement;
- customer orientation;
- staff involvement;
- process approach;
- system approach;
- a continuous improvement approach;
- fact-based decision making;
- mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
It is, by far, the most requested and recognized certification in France and in the world (with more than one million certified), regarding management standards.
The ISO 9001 standard version 2015
The current version of ISO 9001 dates from September 2015 and replaced the 2008 version, adding profound modifications, more in line with the current situation and economic context.
This version therefore better integrates the internal and external issues of an organisation and the associated risks.
Characteristics
If we must group the main characteristics of this quality standard, here is the triptych that emerges:
- Carrying out internal audits: the requirements relating to the standard require that the organisation itself audit its quality system.
This is work that helps to verify the relevance and, above all, the effectiveness of the processes.
- Customer involvement in quality management: the direct integration of customers in improving the quality policy is a strong argument in favor of improving customer satisfaction.
- Benefit from an independent assessment: the certification of an independent organisation like Apave Certification provides a real guarantee of quality and credibility.
Steps and process
To obtain certification, Apave Certification supports you through the 6 steps leading to the issuance of the ISO 9001 certificate:
1. Initial certification request
2. Audit planning between the audited organisation & Apave Certification: I plan my audit
3. Initial certification audit
4. Certification decision
5. Certificate issuance
6. Annual follow-up audit
