Goals

The objectives of the prestation China Compulsory Certification (CCC) for electrical products :

Apave Certification works with the relevant bodies to test, register and certify products for the Chinese market.

We can help you bring products to market for export to China through our following solutions and services:- Compulsory product certification (CCC),- Chinese restrictions on hazardous substances (China RoHS),- Certification of ‘radio’ products (SRRC),- Letter of exemption from certification.
Description
The CCC (China Compulsory Certificate), or ‘3C’, is a mandatory certification programme designed to ensure the safety and compliance of products intended for sale, use or import in China. It was established to merge and unify the former Chinese control systems under a single, demanding label.
Obtaining CCC certification is a rigorous process that can take between 4 and 9 months (sometimes longer, depending on the complexity of the product).

Here are the six key steps to obtaining and maintaining the certificate:

- Application and document review
The first step is to submit a complete application to a certification body.
- Type testing
Product samples are sent to China to be tested in an accredited laboratory.
- Initial factory audit
Physical inspection: Chinese auditors visit the production site (even abroad) to verify the quality management system.
- Evaluation and approval
Once the test reports and audit have been validated, the certification body compiles the final file. If everything is compliant, the CCC certificate is issued. This is generally valid for 5 years.
- Product Marking
After obtaining the certificate, you must affix the CCC logo to your products.
Strict format: the design, size and location of the logo must comply with CNCA rules.
Data: in addition to the logo, certain information (model, manufacturer) must appear in Chinese on the label.
- Annual monitoring (Surveillance)
Certification is not permanent. To maintain it:
- Follow-up audit: a simplified factory inspection takes place every year (or every 12-18 months).
- Regulatory monitoring: if China updates a GB standard, you may sometimes have to carry out partial tests to prove compliance with the new requirements.
Regulatory context
There are essentially two basic requirements for the technical compliance of products entering China:
- Chinese standards (GB)
- Implementing rules

Today, 150 product categories are subject to CCC certification. These regulations define the procedures for implementation and mandatory certification of products.
National Certification and Accreditation Administration
The CCC mark is based on mandatory Chinese GB standards that apply to products; even if the GB standard is harmonised with the international equivalents CB IECEE schemes, the product will require mandatory or additional testing.
Periodicity
For CCC certification, once issued, the certificate is valid for 5 years. However, CCC certification requires periodic monitoring via an annual audit.
For certification exemption: once issued, the certificate is valid for 6 months, and renewal of the certificate will be required on the expiry date.
Certificate validity: - Standard duration: 5 years.
- The certificate remains valid during this period provided that the annual surveillance audits are successful.
- Renewal: you must submit a renewal application approximately 90 days before the certificate expires to avoid any interruption to your exports.

Frequency of monitoring (surveillance audits) Once the certificate has been obtained, the factory is subject to regular checks to verify that production remains consistent with the samples initially tested. - Usual frequency: Every 12 months. - This is the general rule for most products (household appliances, electronics, etc.).
