Description
What is the legal framework?
The application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) since May 25, 2018, implies for certain organizations the obligation to appoint a data protection officer (DPO).
There are cases of mandatory designation stated in Article 37 of the regulation on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (in the case of large-scale processing of sensitive data in particular).
Outside the mandatory legal framework, the designation of a DPO is encouraged by the competent authorities, such as the CNIL in France.
Areas of assessment
The assessment program for the certification also follows the one listed in deliberation n°2018-317 of September 20, 2018, and covers the following 3 main areas of expertise:
1- General regulations on data protection and measures taken for compliance (50% of the questions)
2- : Responsibility in relation to data protection (30% of the questions)
3- : Technical and organizational measures for data security with regard to risks (20% of the questions).
Steps and process
The certification exam consists of a multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ) of 120 questions lasting 3 hours.
30% of these questions are written in the form of practical cases related to data protection; for each question, 4 answers will be proposed, of which at least 1 is correct.
