Quality management system certification in the Aeronautical sector: EN 9100
What is EN 9100: Aeronautical quality ?
The EN 9100 standard is specific to the Aeronautics, Space and Defence (ASD) sector. The standards of the series EN 91X0 (EN9100 / EN9110 / EN9120) aim to establish a quality assurance system in the aeronautics, space and defence industries.
The EN 9110 standard applies to maintenance and repair activities while EN 9120 applies to the storage and sales of new or repaired equipment.
The EN 9100 standard includes the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements developed in ISO 9001:2015 and specifies additional requirements, definitions and rating reports directly related to the aeronautics, space and defence industries.
To enable all actors in the global ASD industry to verify the compliance of supplier services to the audited quality standards (EN 9100 in Europe, AS 9100 in America and JISQ 9100 in Asia), the IAQG (International Aerospace Quality Group) has set up OASIS (Online Aerospace Supplier Information System).
OASIS is a supplier and information database that lists all the organisations certified according to the standards of the series EN91X0.
The EN 9100:2018 standard
Officially, the current version of the AS 9100 standard in force is that of December 2016.
However, in France, EN 9100 bears the reference NF EN 9100:2018, due to the fact that its translation was only published in May 2018. The EN 9100 certificates of the French companies concerned are therefore drafted with the reference NF EN 9100:2018.
Why obtain EN 9100 certification?
EN:9100 certification is the international benchmark in the field of Aeronautics, Space & Defence.
It is essential for winning tenders in the sector since it allows you to be listed in the OASIS database, a guarantee of the reliability and quality of your services as a supplier.
Being EN 9100 certified allows the quality of your services to be recognised by primary contractors in the ASD sector.
Does your primary contractor ask you for a commitment on the quality of the services you perform for them? Do you want to commit to a quality approach?
