Goals

prestation-objectifs-seointro Occupational health and safety management system certification: ISO 45001 :

Develop and implement a Health and Safety at Work management policy and establish objectives that take into account legal requirements and information on OH&S risks.

ISO 45001 is one of the most anticipated ISO standards internationally: indeed, it is the world's first international standard dealing with occupational health and safety.

Objectives

  • Manage risks globally and in a structured manner
  • Reduce the number of work-related accidents among your employees
  • Reduce the direct and indirect costs of your organization (business interruptions, insurance premiums, etc.)
  • While improving productivity through better working conditions (fewer absences, lower staff turnover rate, etc.)

  • Who is ISO 45001: OH&S Management for?

Construction, manufacturing, and service companies, across all sectors (managers, QSE managers, OH&S managers, maintenance managers, human resources managers).

    Accreditation

This service is carried out under Cofrac accreditation (according to ISO 17021-1) for the certification of management systems.
Accreditation No. 4-0552 - scope available on the website www.cofrac.fr.

    Methods

The ISO 45001 certification process is voluntary. However, to present yourself for certification under the best conditions, facilitate its obtaining, and better meet the requirements of the ISO 45001 standard, we recommend:

    - That your Occupational Health and Safety management system has been in place for 6 months,
    - That your Occupational Health and Safety management system has also been internally audited at least once,
    - That a management review has been conducted.

    Benefits

    - Reduction in the number of work-related accidents.
    - Reduction of direct and indirect costs.
    - Increased productivity and performance.
    - Implementation of a global and structured risk management system.
    - Demonstration of your commitment to improving the health and safety of your employees.
    - Improvement of your image with your partners, principals, and clients.

The certification of your Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system according to the ISO 45001:2018 standard constitutes proof and recognition of your involvement and the results obtained with regard to your employees and partners.

The advantages of an integrated system with a high-level structure (HLS)

Just like the ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), and ISO 50001 (energy management) standards, ISO 45001 is part of the reference framework for management system standards based on the principle and approach of continuous improvement (of Occupational Health and Safety Systems in this case).
It shares a high-level structure (High Structure Level), a core text, and identical terms and definitions with these other standards: which will make your transition to ISO 45001 easier.
    Description
The ISO 45001 standard is an international standard that aims to implement an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system.

Occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS) are not mandatory in France, so ISO 45001 certification is voluntary.
However, by having your organisation ISO 45001 certified, you actively encourage the implementation and awareness of integrated QSE (Quality, Safety and Environment) approaches.
Consequently, your image is strengthened, especially with stakeholders (employees, customers and suppliers).

    ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001

The current version of ISO 45001 dates from March 12, 2018, and was published after 5 years of work.
ISO 45001 replaces the OHSAS 18001 standard, which was the international reference for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS).

The major differences between ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001:

    - ISO 45001 focuses on the organisation/business environment interaction (OHSAS 18001 focused on managing OHS hazards)
    - ISO 45001 follows a process approach (whereas OHSAS follows a procedure approach)
    - ISO 45001 considers OHS risks and opportunities (whereas OHSAS focuses only on risks)
    - ISO 45001 integrates interested parties or stakeholders, unlike OHSAS 18001.

Despite the differences in approach between these two international standards, if your Occupational Health and Safety Management System is OHSAS 18001 certified, you will be able to migrate more easily to be ISO 45001 certified.

How to migrate from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001:2018?

    - Analysis of interested parties (people or organisations likely to have an impact on the activities of your organisation) and internal and external factors likely to impact your activities.
    - Study on the control of these risks through your OHS management system.
    - Definition of the scope of application of the system, taking into account the objectives of your OHS management system.
    - Use of this information to set up your processes, assess/evaluate risks and define key performance indicators (KPIs) for the processes.
    Periodicity
The ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety Management System certification is valid for 3 years, subject to the annual surveillance audits being carried out.
