Analysis of all ecological networks

The aim of the Signature Biodiversité® label is to offer companies, developers and other investors a tool for integrating all the ecological frameworks into their projects, in order to make a commitment to a pro-biodiversity approach.
Between late 2019 and early 2020, an audit called DPE, Diagnostic de Performance Environnementale, which includes 74 biodiversity criteria, was carried out. Using this tool, all the ecological networks were analysed.
Water resources, climate, quality of life on the site and many other criteria enabled the auditor to identify areas for improvement with a view to awarding the label.
Today, the site is divided between the shop and 54.1% green spaces, with a total of 2,589 plants, including 141 trees and 6 semi-natural habitats.
What is the Signature Biodiversité® label?
It considers all the ecological frameworks to be integrated into development projects, with the aim of encouraging companies to develop biodiversity in their projects.
From the outset of each project, Signature Biodiversité® assesses the ecological value using the DPE measurement tool, with the aim of making corrections and enabling companies, right from the first audit, to limit as far as possible the harmful effects of urban development on the environment without impacting on the development of the project.
Apave Certification is the independent body that evaluates and awards the label to all projects that use Signature Biodiversité® to protect the environment.
‘It's only natural for Apave Certification to work with Signature Biodiversité® to offer a solution that enables construction and renovation projects to prove that they are capable of protecting and safeguarding the surrounding environment and biodiversity,’ says Guillaume Le-Floch, Label Development Manager at Apave Certification.
A country park
The Decathlon shop in Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets is a perfect example of the positive impact that certification can have on a project.
Six years after the project began, the shop stands in the middle of a veritable country park, where insects, flocks of sheep and bats rub shoulders with sports enthusiasts and local schoolchildren.
‘We have a relationship with the schools in Saint-Jouan, who ask us to organise lessons that come to life on our site,’ says shop manager Quentin Verdier proudly.
The Decathlon group is now demonstrating its determination to develop its network of shops in terms of ecology and biodiversity. Since the award of this label, around twenty other shops are being considered by Decathlon to join the positive biodiversity approach.
